There are five main components to the System 12 environment: M12 taximeter, P12 printer, P92 printer, CR12 card reader, and the Messenger data terminal.

The M12 taximeter and the Messenger data terminal can be used independently.

The printers work with the taximeter to produce a quality printed receipt at the end of a journey. This receipt can be customized to suit any company or driver details.

The card reader has the ability to read any magnetic strip, on any credit card.

It does not check for authenticity of a card, but transfers the details onto the receipt. When used in conjunction with a Messenger data system, the card reader information can be sent back to base for validation and authorisation.

With the Messenger data terminal as the master, all of these components can be used to form a complete mobile data system. The data head will pass information about the journey to a base computer system. Supplying up to date information needed to manage and streamline the modern taxi fleet, allowing it to operate at its fullest potential.
